Sister Project

What is a sister project?

A sister project is a EU-funded project that has also received funding under the same topic of BIOMODEL4REGIONS. Both of the projects aim to develop the Bioeconomy at a Regional level and contribute to the call’s expected outcomes.

C4B

Primary production in agriculture and forestry represents an essential part of the European circular bioeconomy. However, the involvement of primary producers in the circular bio-based economy is still limited, and the benefits are in most cases not fairly distributed along the value chain, to the disadvantage of primary producers. Fair and sustainable business models that create opportunities for rural entrepreneurship and develop new forms of successful rural business are therefore needed.  C4B business models will be designed to balance the share of power and profits across novel bio-based value chains to accelerate the development of rural communities and their economic viability and enhance the cooperation among farmers, foresters and industry.

ROBIN

ROBIN is a cross-national 3-year long Coordination and Support Action (01/09/2022- 31/08/2025), supported by the European Union within the framework of the Horizon Europe programme.
ROBIN aims to empower Europe’s regions to adapt their governance models and structures in ways that accelerate the achievement of their circular bioeconomy targets while promoting social innovation and accounting for different territorial contexts.

Rural Bioeconomy Alliance

Rural Bioeconomy Alliance logoWhat is the Rural Bioeconomy Alliance?

The Rural Bioeconomy Alliance (RBA) is a cluster of European-funded projects aimed at accelerating and supporting the development of circular rural Bioeconomy initiatives in the EU.

With a focus on rural sustainable circular bioeconomy initiatives, the RBA investigates, develops and analyses success stories, best practices, pilots, including ways to increase the adoption of circular bioeconomy concepts, mainly in rural areas. The goal of the cluster is to speed up growth of bioeconomy by sharing knowledge on project outcomes and supporting dissemination and communication activities related to the existing knowledge of bioeconomy.

Where do we focus?

The cluster’s primary focus is the development of bioeconomy in rural areas. As a result, all projects must have a significant or sole focus on rural areas across the EU. RBA members can benefit from communication and dissemination advantages, to technical validation, exploitation and replication, but also potential policy recommendations for the European Commission. This includes the exchange of insights and knowledge on innovative technological developments, information exchange on success stories and pilots, common organisation of workshops and seminars, and more.

Our activities

Members of the Rural Bioeconomy Alliance will have the opportunity to share knowledge with a wider audience, be featured on a dedicated page on each project’s website and participate in joint presentations at high-level events and conferences. Moreover, the cluster is expected to receive valuable technical insights from the sector providing valuable feedback for each project’s outcomes. The RBA also provides a forum to discuss potential policy recommendations for the European Commission in support of shaping the future of bioeconomy in Europe. By working together, members of the RBA can accelerate the development of circular rural Bioeconomy initiatives in the EU and contribute to a sustainable future.

CEE2ACT will empower countries in Central Eastern Europe and beyond (Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia) – CEE2ACT target countries – to develop circular bioeconomy strategies and action plans through knowledge transfer and innovative governance models enabling sustainability and resilience to achieve better informed decision-making processes, societal engagement and innovation, building on the practice of experienced countries serving as role models in this context (Austria, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Finland, Sweden).

COOPID logo

The COOPID project has proposed an effective strategy to mobilise primary producers and stimulate the uptake of inclusive and sustainable bio-based business models in the European primary production sector, considering regional & sectorial conditions. The strategy has worked with: (1) the selection of 11 real successful businesses in the EU and the organisation of visits to these cases. Participants raised to more than 500; (2) an ambassador programme with primary producers (127 #COOPIDambassadors) and more than 1500 impacts; and (3), the production of high-quality resources (>4000 downloads & views) and a supportive digital project presence. In June 2023, the project comes to an end closing with a final conference delivering recommendations to policymakers, industry and academia on the learnings of the project: the COOPID Bioeconomy Conference (May 31st, 2023).

Bio Circular Cities logo

The Biocircularcities project aims to unlock the circular economy potential of unexploited bio-based waste streams by exploring the development of economically and environmentally efficient models for organic waste (food and kitchen waste, garden waste, agricultural waste from agrobased industrial sector, wood waste and forestry residues, etc.) in three pilot areas.
